ScootRules stores the language, appearance, confirmation of the disclaimer, and content and legal-text caches locally on the device. After location permission has been granted, the app may use Android system geocoding to turn an approximate location into a country. The app does not retain either the coordinates or the detected country.
Country rules and legal texts are updated via HTTPS from public GitHub sources at most once within 24 hours. GitHub receives the IP address for technical reasons. If you open a source, a reference to another app or a legal text in the browser, the app starts an external application only following your action; its privacy information then applies. In its current functionality, ScootRules does not process children's or health data, photos or files, notifications, Google Play purchases or cloud backups. There is no user account and no analytics, advertising or tracking services.
To keep the legal notice and privacy policy current, the app fetches the JSON versions only from raw.githubusercontent.com at most once every 24 hours and stores them locally. This technically transmits your IP address to GitHub. Without an internet connection, the versions bundled with the app are shown. If you select “Open in browser”, the matching HTML version is opened through GitHub Pages in an external application. The fetch is based on our legitimate interest in keeping mandatory information current (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Under the GDPR you have, in particular, the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. App data is generally stored locally under your control, so you can inspect, change or delete it there. Where external providers process data after you voluntarily open links, their privacy information applies.
This privacy policy is updated when the app, the services used or the data processing changes. The current version is available in the app and at the linked address.
